Professional Land Clearing Services in Memphis, TN

WHAT WE DO

Channell Demolition provides land clearing services for commercial parcels, development sites, and large properties throughout Memphis and the surrounding region. Whether you have a wooded lot that needs to be opened up, an overgrown commercial parcel being prepped for construction, or a site that needs to be fully cleared before a new build can begin, we have the equipment to handle it.

Land clearing is one of our primary service areas, alongside large-scale building demolition. We work with developers, landowners, and general contractors who need a site cleared and ready to move forward.

HOW WE APPROACH IT

Every land clearing job starts with understanding what you need the property to look like when we’re done. Some clients need every tree and stump removed. Others need selective clearing that leaves certain trees in place. Development sites often need grubbing and debris removal so that grading can begin. We talk through the scope before we start so the end result matches what the project actually needs.

For jobs where forestry mulching is the right approach, we do that too. It’s not the bulk of our land clearing work, but it’s part of what we offer.

OUR LAND CLEARING PROCESS

Step 1 — Free Site Walk. We walk the property with you to understand the end goal — full clearing for a build site, selective clearing that leaves certain trees, or something in between.

Step 2 — Tree & Brush Removal. Depending on the scope, we cut and remove trees and heavy brush, or use a track-mounted forestry mulcher to grind vegetation into mulch in a single pass where that method fits the site.

Step 3 — Stump Grinding & Grubbing. For development sites that need to be graded afterward, we grind or remove stumps and grub the root systems so grading crews aren’t fighting buried material later.

Step 4 — Debris Haul-Off. Cleared material that isn’t mulched in place is hauled from the site.

Step 5 — Grade-Ready Handoff. The property is left in the condition your project’s next phase needs — whether that’s grading, construction, or simply an open, usable parcel.

WHY CHOOSE CHANNELL FOR LAND CLEARING

We own the equipment we clear with, including forestry mulching capability, so we’re not subcontracting the work out or waiting on rented machinery. Land clearing and large-scale demolition are our two primary focus areas, not a side offering — and we’ll travel for the right commercial or development project further than most regional crews will.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Our land clearing clients include real estate developers preparing sites for commercial or residential construction, landowners with overgrown or wooded parcels they want to open up, general contractors who need site clearing as part of a larger development project, and property owners clearing land for practical or safety reasons.

We serve Memphis and a broad area around it — including west Tennessee, northern Mississippi, central Arkansas, and northwest Alabama. For significant commercial projects, we’ll travel farther.

SERVING MEMPHIS AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES

Channell Demolition clears commercial and development-scale land throughout Memphis and Shelby County, including Bartlett, Germantown, Collierville, Cordova, Millington, Arlington, and Lakeland, as well as Southaven, Olive Branch, and Horn Lake, Mississippi. For larger commercial and development projects, we regularly travel across West Tennessee, northern Mississippi, central Arkansas, and northwest Alabama — as far out as Nashville.

SERVICE-SPECIFIC FAQs

What does land clearing actually involve?

At its core, land clearing means removing trees, brush, stumps, vegetation, and debris from a piece of land so it can be used for development, construction, or other purposes. The exact scope varies by project — some jobs are light brush removal, others are full site clearing with stump grinding and debris haul-off. We’ll assess your property and tell you exactly what the job involves.

Do you clear land for residential lots or just commercial properties?

We work on both, though our primary focus is on commercial and development-scale projects. If you have a large residential parcel or rural property you need cleared, we can discuss whether it’s a good fit. For smaller residential lots within the Memphis area, it’s worth getting in touch and describing what you need.

What is forestry mulching and do you offer it?

Forestry mulching is a clearing method that uses a specialized machine to grind trees, brush, and vegetation into mulch in a single pass rather than cutting and hauling material away. It works well in certain situations. We do offer forestry mulching as part of our land clearing work, though it’s not always the right method for every site. We can talk through what makes sense for your property.

Do you remove stumps as part of land clearing?

Stump removal or grinding is typically part of a full land clearing scope, especially for development sites where the land needs to be graded afterward. If your project requires it, we’ll include it. If you just need brush and trees cleared and stumps aren’t a concern, we can work with that too.

How long does land clearing take?

Timelines depend heavily on the size and density of the property. We’ll give you a realistic estimate once we’ve looked at the property.

Do I need permits to clear my land?

Permit requirements for land clearing vary by county, municipality, and proximity to protected areas like wetlands or streams. It’s worth checking what applies to your specific property before clearing begins. If you’re not sure, reach out and we can help point you in the right direction for your area.

How much does land clearing cost per acre in Memphis?

Cost varies with tree density, terrain, and whether stumps need to be removed or just brush cleared. Light brush clearing runs lower per acre than full clearing with stump grinding and debris haul-off on a heavily wooded parcel. We’ll assess your specific property and give you a real per-acre number rather than a generic estimate.
